As the pioneers in goat milk infant formula, we invest significantly in research to understand goat milk’s unique properties, and to ensure that the infant formula we make is safe and supports growth.
We were the first to show that goat infant formula supports healthy growth1, and our subsequent larger growth study2 led to the approval of goat milk as a source of protein in infant formula in the European Union3.
DGC’s research spans more than 35 years and has resulted in more than 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals, with more than 40 publications being on goat milk nutrition. And we continue to build on this research4.
DGC is currently sponsoring a study in Europe with more than 2,100 infants, investigating whether formula-fed infants consuming whole goat milk formula (WGF) have a lower risk of eczema, compared to those on standard cow formula. This double-blind, randomised controlled trial, independently undertaken by Ludwig Maximilan University (LMU) in Munich, is the largest study on goat milk formula, and one of the largest intervention studies on infant formula ever conducted.
Our Dairy Goat Co-operative (DGC) products are WGF (whole goat milk formula) which is the goat milk formula used in the study! Look for the lockup!
What is (WGF) Whole Goat Milk formula?
Our Dairy Goat Co-operatiive brands (see our products page) are made using Whole Goat Milk Formula (WGF) and that’s what sets us apart. Unlike many formulas that use skim milk and then add fats back in we keep the natural goodness of our whole goat milk intact.
Whole Goat Milk Formula (WGF) means:
- ~50% Milk Fat – Naturally present, not artificially added.
- Gently Processed – Made with care using only fresh whole goat milk
- No Added Whey – This means no added beta-lactoglobulin, one of the proteins commonly associated with allergic response
